From June 16 - August 8, 1999 Halifax-based artist Bruce Barber presented Squat. The artist
designed a squat, a room within the Walter Phillips Gallery, that was
inhabited by an aspiring writer / squatter who was be able to communicate with other
writers in cyberspace via the Gallery's web cam and java chat room. The squatter
collaborated with Barber and other writers and artists to produce a
manuscript for publication. Barber is an artist, writer and curator and is
a professor of Media Art and Visual Culture Studies at the Nova Scotia
College of Art and Design. Squat requires a frames capable browser such as Netscape 2+ or Internet Explorer 2+
